Tooley Pond is suitable for all ages and paddling abilities. There is no current and it is all flat water. The pond runs North-South and is well sheltered from the wind.
This pond is on the 30,000-acre Tooley Pond Conservation Easement Tract. The distance following the shoreline is approximately 1.4 miles, but you can paddle as much or as little as you like. The picturesque pond has plenty of great views, and exploring the shallow outlet at the southern end of the pond is sure to reveal some unique flora and fauna. Water lilies, purple pitcher plants, and even bog cranberry can often be found around the narrow outlet. Waterfowl and occasionally loons are seen as well.
Bass fishing is a popular activity here; see the signs at the hand-carry launch for special fishing regulations. Take your time to enjoy the natural Adirondack beauty that this pond has to offer.
To the west of the pond is Tooley Pond Mountain. There is a one-mile trail to the summit of the mountain, which was once home to a fire tower. The tower was decommissioned in 1970 and later reassembled on Cathedral rock at the Ranger School in Wanakena. There are several waterfalls to the northwest along the Tooley Pond Road, the mountain trail, and many great outdoor activities in nearby Cranberry Lake and Wanakena.
